Samplers from Waltham Abbey

The wonderful array of samplers is from the small town of Waltham Abbey, just north of London. Farm Hill House was the name of a girls boarding school in Waltham Abbey that was known for its needlework teaching. While we can not confirm that Ann Hancorn or Maria Herbert attended the school, we will let the similarities and the quality of the work speak for itself.

We feature five samplers at this time: three pieces from Mary Ann Bland Rickets; one from Ann Hancorn that is remarkably similar to one of Miss Ricketts' works; and one from Maria Herbert.

There are currently no samplers within this companion set.
